The Muchachos announce “Fiesta de Musica II”
Music will fill the air in Manchester on Sunday, July 13th, as the Muchachos Drum & Bugle Corps hosts “Fiesta de Musica II,” a Drum Corps International sanctioned marching and music show to be held at Memorial High School's Lemire Field. This year's show begins at 5:30PM and will feature seven competing Open Class Corps from New England and Canada.
The “Fiesta” is part of Drum Corps International's Summer Music Games series and each of the units will perform a 12 minute show complete with a variety of musical scores and choreographed marching drills. This is event is for all ages and a great outdoor family entertainment for a summer evening. The young musicians competing range in age from 14 to 21 years.
Drum and Bugle Corps activity was extremely popular in New Hampshire in the 1960's and 1970's with numerous Granite State towns and cities from Pelham to Laconia, Portsmouth to Claremont, and Berlin to Keene, fielding some notable New Hampshire marching units.
Corps scheduled to compete in the show are the five time DCI Open Class (formerly Division II) Champion Spartans from Nashua; Citations from Burlington, MA; 7th Regiment from New London, CT; Targets from Springfield, MA; Dutch Boy from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; H.Y.P.E. from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; and Les Stentors from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.
The host Muchachos will perform their 2008 show “Our Favorite ‘B’ Sides” which includes: “Life Goes On and On” from the Motion Picture Z; “Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha; “Brazil;” “Like A Lover;” and “Oye Como Va” in exhibition. The combined Spartans and Muchachos horn lines will once again play America the Beautiful.
