Welcome to the newest web home of the Muchachos Drum and Bugle Corps of Manchester, New Hampshire. 2010 represents a significant milestone for the Muchachos as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our founding. This promises to be an exciting year in many respects, as we are in higher demand than ever for performances. We are especially grateful that we are invited to return to every venue we have appeared in. This speaks volumes of the impact we have on the crowds we entertain and the sponsors of those events, and the effort the Muchachos put forth in every appearance.
Our growing membership is stepping up to new levels performance, playing exciting and challenging music, and will be kicking off our summer exhibition season by performing in the Lynn, MA, Beanpot Invitational World Class DCI show on July 3rd.
Our home show, Fiesta de Musica, will take place on July 18th at Memorial High School's Clem Lemire Sports Complex. This year's program is entitled "Pictures of Spain" and will feature the return of "The Lonely Bull," The Muchachos theme song. Read more about our show.
Our instructional staff has been expanded to meet the needs of the membership. Our staff could easily teach a competitive Corps, and many of them have. I think it is significant that they find our program worthy of their time and efforts and their combined 100+ years of Drum Corps experience is a significant factor in the quality of our performances and in our ability to recruit experienced alumni from a number of other New England competitive Corps.
We are still looking for additional members, especially in the horn line to put the finishing touches on our presentation. In the last year, our color guard has grown from five to sixteen, and our drum line now will probably field a solid battery of seven snares, two multi-tenors, four bass, and at least four cymbals. Our horn line has stayed consistent at twenty, having lost some to competitive Corps and some to other activities, while we have picked up the same amount of new members. In commemoration of this special year, all who perform with the Corps in 2010 will receive a special edition shoulder patch which takes the design of the future, based on the original Junior Corps patch, with "50th Anniversary 2010" added.
Last but not least, this new website, thanks to Joan Joly, one of our mellophone players, is like putting on our new uniforms. Joan takes over from Larry Stacy, a baritone line member, who has devoted hundreds of hours in the last five years as webmaster, and I am grateful for all the things he does for the Corps. He has now undertaken a video production which will be added to the site later this spring. These are examples of how our members contribute to the tasks required to allow us to succeed. Any comments/suggestions on how we can continue to provide you with relevant information on the site will be appreciated.
